Soccer Jerseys
Soccer jerseys worn by professional players are regulated
by association football rules. These rules are known as the Laws of
the Game. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is responsible
for their maintenance. The fourth Law is focused on player equipment.
This is where the matter of clothing is addressed.
The Laws of the Game explain that soccer jerseys must have sleeves.
Also, if an article of clothing is worn underneath the shirt, it is
necessary for it to be of the same color. It is good to note that undershorts
must follow the same rules as compared to soccer shorts.
Soccer jerseys are counted as part of the game's compulsory equipment.
For this reason, they are not allowed to display any political, religious,
or personal statements. In fact, the organizer of a competition is responsible
for penalizing the player if he were to remove his shirt and display
slogans or advertising on field.
